🧭Recalibrating 🌍Worldbuilding

Trying to gauge where people are at with two questions: 

1) Have you heard of the term “personal knowledge management”?

2) What software do you use for taking notes?

To me, it’s about these two concepts: the filtration of information and the forging of knowlege over time. 

Rather than putting energy, time, and attention into notes we never look at again, investing that time & attention into notes that build on one another over time. 

I actually just migrated all of my notion and Apple notes into obsidian, a markdown editor that I’ve been using for a couple of years. It’s nice to know I don’t have to rely on a cloud system for my notes, since I can have a local, non-proprietary copy in md:

Yeah that’s fair, it’s something a lot of people struggle with. Too many options. Too many organization systems.

Re: curation, I totally agree. That’s why, imo, it’s so incredible important to have an information filtering system (identify the signal) and a knowledge building system (attributing credit to sources + adding your own perspective). 

To me, pkm is about both

investor, photographer, nomad, exploring onchain & exploring the 🌎 /positivesum

i have heard of it, but never have found a good way to organize it

i do think curation has never been more important, what each of us intake feels like it's widening - rlly been the trend ever since the downfall of everyone watching the same 5 o clock news

Basically, it’s a way to organize information so that it can be connected and built on, rather than just left for dead like most note taking systems haha 

That’s fair! I feel like a physical system makes much more sense in that context

Yeah second brain is another common one! But to me, second brain is more about the infrastructure, pkm is more about the system that leverages the infra to ~do something~

have tried evernote. usually just use word doc or handwritten
