wait until creatives realize they can make money on zora by expressing their taste i've made a small-but-high-roi profit collecting and the path to it scaling is clear. that trading activity actually supports the creator is incredibly satisfying i don't want to trade shitcoins, i want to trade art

Does your roi come from selling pieces? Or from rewards of marketing your collected pieces?

specifically referring to selling as I think this is totally unrealized. creators know liquidity is important and they obvi want people collect, but it's almost like they don't want collecting to be valuable. we will make money when our collectors can make money

I have done that too, but it’s always been for low supply limited editions I think it’ll be hard to convince people to “buy 100 zora pieces” as an indicator of your belief in that piece

Can't agree there bc I'm already doing it. 100 editions is $30, still less than what most artists list work for and much less than I've paid for 1/1s and limited editions. Just knowing I can sell, even at a loss, is a massive difference from collecting a 1/1 that I can only sell if the artist goes nuclear. With an automated market more liquidity benefits everyone. I think any artist who has had success selling 1/1s would find that this token model is more profitable bc it's more profitable for collectors.

Oh yeah it makes sense, and I’ve learned how and why it makes sense mostly from you 🫡 so thank you I’m just saying that the average person will find it strange up front (not considering you average here, given how much you’ve thought about it haha)

I totally agree - that's why I posted it. I was optimistic about the protocol but after a couple small trades it clicked. My point is that making a few bucks from trading art is more fun and satisfying that looking for the next memecoin to get rekt on. Problems: -Not enough creators; they think they're giving work away for free -Zora trained the behavior of collecting 1 edition w/ double-tap to mint It will take time but when more creators reach secondary, their collectors will see that their purchase was more than just support

for sure, it’s not only supporting, but also providing exit liquidity for them in the event the token reaches the social value they thought it would in the first place. I wonder if perhaps 200 is too high? 🤔 feels like an arbitrary value to me that I know personally has made me feel like it will be difficult to hit the threshold

nah i think that's totally the wrong mindset. trading is net positive for the creator up or down. it's just royalties. trading is attention and it's in the best interest of any creator to continue to accrue it. more mints, more trades. that was every creator's goal but somehow when the veil of scarcity is lifted it's not clicking. this notion of scarcity on the internet is backwards. more wallets, more attention, more value. nobody will get anywhere selling or collecting 1/1s except for the 1% who have a name that stands on its own. 200 is too low, and they raised it to 1000. This means a creator gets ~$300 before a secondary with propper liquidity launches. yes, it's not easy to hit from the perspective of 1k mints, but it's not wild from the perspective of $300 dollars. this $300 should be more easily achievable then via 1/1 or limited editions. 1000 is proof of attention; from there it makes sense to have an automated market. scarcity is enforced via price
