I have absolutely no faith in crypto as a force for good. The decentralisation and crypto anarchism ideas that drew me to the space are dead. Crypto capitulated completely to the US government. The grift is everywhere. The extraction has reached new levels. It’s just a centralized, PVP casino.

I’m still on Farcaster - for now - because I like some of the folks here and I genuinely like Farcaster as an app. But crypto is over for me.

It’s technically Warpcast, and Farcaster is the protocol, but this proves the point that most ppl think Farcaster = Warpcast, which means the protocol has been completely captured and dominated by a single centralized company. It also doesn’t help that the app was once called Farcaster

The protocol is a product and it has an owner. So does the app. Decentralization theater and appeasement.

Sure. My issue is more with the protocol’s credible neutrality over the very long term than decentralization for its own sake. Whatever keeps the protocol censorship resistant and protects my ability to say things like:

“Fuck you @pmarca”

But they will say: the promise was always “sufficient” decentralization, we are just bad at listening
