kind of a whacky idea but i wonder if there is a way to mobilize users active on x and fc in order to ... idk, import that data over systematically? give me an extension to run that scrapes my x screen when open and allows programmatic reposting of things i "like" into some kind of wc feed, or adds an extra button that makes it stupid simple to "quote tweet on wc" cc @linda re talking about being a human bridge for discourse

Any extension could get the HTML of any open page(active page), capturing screen and OCR is much more resource-intensive and prone to errors. But even scrapping the HTML has its downsides because the structure doesn't always stay the same, best bet is using x-paths. Then you could post on farcaster using your fid and a signer key, a dev could make this in a day or two, but I'm sure that most people won't do that for serving an avg of 2 users. Anyway, there's lots of customization that won't fit many people's cases plus 80/100 of farcaster users don't know how to properly manage their signer keys. I feel like this is one project that is like doing it yourself for yourself if you really believe in the use case.

i'm not going to ship it and i don't imagine any other devs will but.... if merkle ships it, i guarantee @linda and I will be power users for the injected "Quote to FC" button. I strongly suspect many others active on X will be as well. X content is better (for now..?) but the conversation here is better, and this gives you the best of both worlds in general, I think trying to figure out how to make it easier for users to bridge the best content from other platforms onto FC is a good strategy. You see it happen natively on every platform. Almost every active user here is active elsewhere as well and can be mobilized appropriately. WC's willingness to link out to other sites can be a super power if it embraces it imo

To be fair a "quote to Warpcast button" is a much easier project and seems like a good idea. Warpcast supports URL intents, so making an extension like that just needs to open a Warpcast link containing the tweet link when that injected button on each tweet is inserted. I already worked with extensions that inserted vote buttons on tweets some two or more years ago with yup extension. Also did a lot of browser extensions in general so at least for me seems to be a worthwhile project as it should be super easy to try out so yeah thanks for this suggestion will probably try it in the next few weeks.
