Explosive attention coupled with money makes headlines, but it doesn’t have good retention

While the industry focuses on the sugar high of printing large sums of money in record time, I’m paying attention to where sustainable economies are emerging

i don't think the people showing up to make money are the interesting people

same. i think its also been proven that they dont stick around

i think there's a parallel here to the attached quote which is, if you attract people who explicitly want to make money, your community will suffer. But if you focus on making great community, making money will follow

twitter and reddit were the two greats of web2 content and both were interest/community based rather than $$$

the ordering really matters

fc should be going after the most interesting / longest term thinkers first (who _do_ care about decentralization and ownership of their content etc), and everyone else will follow. Vs the reverse

it’s an intriguing line because it gets at a core motivator of most people and is also the most concentrated differentiator of this app

“and then friends” is cute and points at the actual sense of community and social proximity here 

it might attract the “wrong kind” of people too who are just looking for $, but i think it also perks up the attention of interesting people, creators, etc
