yea exactly, and also, like, there is a ceiling on gambling. I realize it's grown over the years due to increased access, but everyone in the US has had lotteries for decades and it's still a niche who self-selects into them.
specific gambling appeals to specific people (sports betting appeals to people who love sports) but idk, and maybe this is me being raised in the south around a lot of religious people but, there is some sizable niche of people who are simply unaddressable.
also my bias/bg, but the poorest, most desperate people I knew were the ones that bought lottery tickets, but only to a point (when they got really desperate, they picked food over scratch offs mostly). 1 reply
