Der Algorithmus des Manfred Mohr Texte 1963–1979 Only available in German - Published on the occasion of the exhibition of the same name at the ZKM, 2013 I’m sharing it anyways as Mohr is an interesting character and an important concrete art painter who started to work with computers in 1969.

Although provided with numerous illustrations, his generative paintings itself are not the focus of the book. His writings on the works and his correspondence with critics take centre stage. Both they and numerous artist friends were not very enthusiastic about the change of medium.

Major influences were the concepts of philosopher Max Bense and his encounter with French composer Pierre Barbaud in Paris in 1967, who was one of the first to use computers in his compositional work. Mohr himself was an avid Jazz saxophonist.
