IMO, Kudos cover 80% of the engagement needed on that app (comments on activity as last 20%)

They're really pushing to make Clubs much more social (easier group ride coordination), so this may change, but as far as I can tell having used the app for years, there's still not a clear advantage in-app vs bringing conversation over to a messaging app.
