https://x.com/restofworld/status/1863975739822899336 Business class public transit is super underrated imo. I remember taking business class subway in Shenzhen (it cost ~$3 instead of ~$1) and it was a great experience. If public transit bodies themselves offer it, it could be a large revenue opportunity.

I'm curious, we've seen every tech mogul elite from Jobs, Gates, Zuck and Elon go evil once they acquired enough influence. When does Vitalik become evil? It's usually when they desire outcome X (no pun) at all costs?

The Paris metro used to have a first class until 1991 — until the then-socialist government abolished it. I’m of two minds about this — I can understand their egalitarian position of making public transport the great equalizer, but in practice it likely drew away a crowd who would rather drive if they can’t ride in comfort. I can relate to the argument of letting the market decide instead of patronizing everyone with a single option

Works well in Switzerland where local trains serve as subways in cities. ~$7k for a first class annual subscription that covers the entire country. It’s a better option than a car for many.

In Mexico I grew up taking all business class buses from Vallarta to Guadalajara since flights were too expensive. They were a bit pricier than regular buses but worth every penny.

In most countries, this price is unrealistic, and the difference between business and economy class is enormous

Tiered modeling is dumb. Just make it comfortable for everyone with appropriate capacity. We fucks fund it also subsuquently fund roads for rich urbanites. The public should be the prime benefactors. Tiered publicly funded stuff is a slap in the face to the middle class.

This could be a good solution for executives, who often travel alone, to leave their car at home to go to work and there would be less pollution.

safety is a huge issue on US public transport. a more expensive class would really help to provide a safer and more comfortable commute.
