As far as I can tell the Icon of the Seas is basically fine; even on the environmental front (important!) I see no reason to believe it's worse per passenger than other ships. A lot of opposition to it feels like elite snobbery against middle / upper-middle-class people. Any good anti-Icon arguments I'm missing?

we should keep in mind that from public goods funding perspective, the icon has a cap on how many people can use it at the same time, which makes it quite exclusive and against the etherean ethos

I don't think things that have caps are against the Ethereum ethos? After all, the Ethereum blockspace has caps. I think the Ethereum ethos might be closer to: use an AMM curve to auction off spots on the Icon, and then use the revenue to fund related public goods (eg. environmental cleanup in this case?)

that's fair but going with the same logic why is EIP-1559 burning the base fee rather than donating it to environmental cleanup to offset years of proof of work? i suggest we use the AMM proceeds to pump ETH, it's that simple
