What are your thoughts on the Reddit API controversy, and on how they're treating developers and moderators? how could crypto/decentralization improve this?

Definitely seems worrying. It's interesting to think through, how would this be handled differently if reddit were "decentralized"? The main practical points of difference seem to be: * Data is open, so paywalling APIs would be impossible * If reddit does something really wrong, someone could fork it

Of course, history in crypto and open source shows that forks face a huge uphill battle. There are a few successful ones (LibreOffice, Hive?) but not too many. So there's a big difference between forking being theoretically possible, and actually being credible.
