I love @dwr.eth and co, but I'd rather hold off until we have something that is end-to-end encrypted. I also think that to get ecosystem-wide adoption, it should be federated, someone using one messenger should be able to talk to people using other messengers.

Realistically, I'm not interested today because I don't want to have yet another private key to track. If you solve that problem somehow (native social recovery? though not with secret sharing; you need the ability to expire old keys for security imo) then that makes it much more interesting to me.

(the above is based on my understanding of nostr from when I tried it last year; if you tell me there's already an amazing solution to this problem, I'd be happy to hear that!)

I’m trying to design an instant messaging system based on pgp keys you sign with an ethereum account (so you only keep track of your eth acc key and benefit from existing social recovery) but trying to balance between making everything easy in-app (but maybe lose on interoperability) and being able to manage your pgp keys and messages yourself should priority be on the former or the latter? not sure how we get the latter without yet another set of pkeys and keyrings to manage
