Are answers the new search? Has discovery always been a problem, or was it just a state preference all along—where what we really wanted wasn’t to 'discover' but simply to get answers?

It'll be interesting to see some sort of data of stated vs revealed preference. My hunch is people say they want answers, preferably directly and quickly, but also experience joy from discovery - that so called serendipity

one data i will be interested to see is: How much has scrolling and clicking on links increased/decreased since the beginning of Generative AI in search? agree on the joy to stumble across something/someone new.
