I committed a networking faux pas yesterday 

Someone said “we’re talking about xyz angels” and I said “I haven’t heard good things about xyz angels” and another person said “he runs xyz angels” 💀💀 

To be fair it’s an “investing group” and you have to pay $500 to pitch them. You also have to pay to $1000 to invest and access the “database” of startups they’re talking to. Seems predatory to me

Not a faux pas, better to be honest, and also good for people to understand their own reputation—might motivate them to change their approach

But pay to pitch is a huge red flag, run a mile the other way
