The strategic reserve news has got me down tbh—every now and then I think we work in a joke of an industry and then something like this affirms it To be clear I think there is a lot to be proud of about where crypto is at, but the more it is co-opted by Emperor Orange et al, the less I personally want to associate with it

I feel like this happens with many things that are accepted at scale by a culture. It never is quite how you imagined it. Kinda like a news reporter explaining your story, but they need to do it in oversimplified ways that don't tell the whole story. I still think all of this is sign of progress, even if it's messy and not the original intent.

It’s one thing for governments to own crypto and use it to take part in the ecosystem as a participant. That’s adoption. Another for the government to buy your bags so that taxpayers can be your exit liquidity. That’s graft. This feels more like the latter. But if the former is coming then it does make sense to have a strategic reserve. But I’d by way more excited if they’d announced a major government system was going onchain. Happy to have my bags pumped though I guess. 🤷♂️

the sad fucking truth. He takes the scam element to a whole new level. I guess on the plus side, it does reveal peoples true character and whether they are trustworthy, humanity minded or self serving. so. there's that.
