Their innovation is their new execution environment which they call Optimistic Parallel Execution, so they can execute upto 10k tps parallelly Building mindshare around CT, still not a direct use-case though

oh yes absolutely! all chains have to come to a consensus (on the order of transactions) and then "wait" for the node to execute and update the state monad removes this "wait" by decoupling consensus from execution, so both consensus and execution get full block times to process additionally, monad starts executing new transactions before earlier transactions are completed (the "optimistic" part) the validators validate by matching the outputs of earlier transactions to the inputs of earlier transactions (sorry not eli5, will try a good analogy soon)
