Audiophiles: how is the market for quality sound systems doing? Do people still buy living room amp/speaker systems and attach to TVs? Feels like everyone just gives up and uses headphones or simple built-in speakers on TVs/computers/phones these days. And afaik speaker tech hasn’t gotten much smaller physically.

In the 90s people were excited about Bose and other high-end speakers that were shrinking form factors the way LCDs and LEDs shrank video devices but afaik there are no discontinuous tech shifts, it’s just better mechanical design and some adaptive electronics.

Audio is in some ways harder than video though it feels like it should be simpler.
