We focus too much on optimality (speed, frictionlessness, winner-take-all dynamics, etc.) at the expense of robustness (ability to recover from and/or prevent disasters, elimination of single points of failure, diversification of inputs/modes of operation, etc.)

More of a cultural thing than about particular groups.
