Bought eth at genesis sale and it's now a significant part of my net worth, so to be perfectly honest, the initial interest was entirely pragmatic. But intellectually, I started getting interested at the level of philosophy around 2017 during the first boom because of interest in time/irreversibility/memory/forgiveness
