With zk magic, in the absolute worst case, everyone proves their own state transitions, and everyone holds their own state, with state roots updated on their designated ETH contracts. This scales linearly with the number of participants, so can scale infinitely. Offloading storage/compute for convenience is optional.

you're missing credit facilities. at a high enough capitalization there is some reason to subsidize gas, and on the other side, there's a reason to externalize DA to validiums/volitions. I'll admit that the approach to credit facilities has been strenuous, but Ethereum has matured where other chains have not.

What you wrote applies to any chain at that scale. Block space is limited. But like the internet not everything will or should happen on one local network, there will be a backbone connecting local activity together and only Ethereum right now is set up to do that.

1) blocksize may be increased in the future as long as 10-20 year old hardware can then still run nodes (core ethos of ethereum being ability for anyone to validate) 2) L2 teams working on scaling while settling to Ethereum likely to manifest greatly in the next 2-5 years. Already from 2 years ago moving USDC to today
