Do childhood trauma triggers ever subside or do they end up becoming an age-long companion? From your perspective and experience, what are your thoughts?

Need to acknowledge, understand, and accept. Once that’s done, they subside.

IMO Traumas create your super powers. Once you’re able to recognize and control them, you have the choice to fight them or use them to your benefit for the rest of your life. Fighting them is a waste of time with that perspective. The cool part about the human experience is pattern recognition to offer empathy to others and/or ensure that the next generation doesn’t experience them.

I knew someone who gave me a mental model to think about it and it has stuck with me ever since. Everyone you have ever met is broken. Some of those broken pieces keep floating around us like pink balloons. You can't always see the balloons of other people, but at times you realize your own. And every time I do I see all those balloons floating around me. And they will never leave.
