FIP: Labels A data standard to annonate context about accounts like language, humanity, spamminess and other qualities. Labels will make it easy to generate public datasets that are useful for app developers to categorize casts and users. https://github.com/farcasterxyz/protocol/discussions/216

Sounds like this will make it easier for apps to show content from relevant users. Having a standardized way to discover these user scores sounds good. However, I am afraid that something like this could alienate some users if a few of them get wrongly labelled in the public. It could deter newer users from onboarding.

all social networks label users. isn't it better if the data is public vs private?

I was looking at fc metas and discussions from the past year. My rough gist(more of a gut feeling so far) was - people are fine with being labelled low privately than being openly told that they are low score. This is how it was for power badges.

It truly is better. Its painful at times but also helps us know how we fit in and can work on our content.
