IMV there are already many second foundations @ethglobal is a second foundation, for developer onboarding @argotorg.eth is a second foundation, for solidity / EVM / tooling Nomic Foundation is a second foundation, for devtooling / compilers @protocolguild is a second foundation, for funding core development And there are more coming online soon, and should be more in the future too. We are actively trying to help bring them into existence and funding them.

Pectra testnet is named Mekong! “Mekong” is the name of the river that runs all the way from Tibet, through China, then spends most of its length through Myanmar, Laos, Thailand, Cambodia and Vietnam. Starting next week, we'll be presenting the work from the Summer of Protocols '24 cohort across a Protocol Symposium & Unconference ☀️ We'll kick things off with an overview session on Sep 17th, then have daily sessions by each research team, wrapping up with a two day protocol-themed unconference on Sep 27 & 28. Teams this year worked on projects ranging from adding E2EE to ActivityPub, improving controlled wildfire protocols, analyzing how the IETF stewards various internet protocols, and a bunch of other things. We also gave several small grants to individuals to prototype what we've called "Protocol PILLs": neat little projects to protocol-pill people 💊 All the info is here: https://summerofprotocols.com/protocol-symposium-2024 !

Hacktoberfest giving out Holopins as reward for participation is the stupidest thing I heard in a while. The Holopin site even mentions "And guess what? They're not NFTs." My point is not whether they are NFTs or not. But why should anyone value a badge that has complete vendor lock in, no persistency guarantee, unverifiable independently. Actually the opposite of cool!
