Years ago, when I started building a decentralized discord clone, people asked me why. I wanted a communication tool that was truly decentralized, in a way that no state actor was able to gain control over. Signal's design wasn't capable of group chats beyond a certain size. The features only went so far. And it has failure points such that countries block them by firewall and have to rely on the good graces of others to run proxies, which ultimately get shut down or blocked too. App stores do not share in this ideal — their concern is profit, and will bend backwards when forced to by regulatory bodies. Amazon and others are complicit in helping state actors maintain their control of the web, and are profiting handsomely from the arrangement. None of this happened by accident. And I only saw it getting worse. I realized what I was building in this chat application went beyond just chat, and how pressing it was to make this general purpose.

So, they do not believe it or get it, and I do not have any more time to spend trying to explain how a company can help build a protocol and make money without being a scheme for dumping on retail for revenue. And so they're out, permanently. Don't let the door hit them where the bad thesis split them. But wasted time does not warrant a diatribe, rather a pithy "pick investors that align with your principles", so why this post? Because founders on here should understand what some of the funds are doing, as I and others, who I will keep anonymous, have learned the hard way that "no" is not the worst that can happen.

28 hours since GitHub took down the repository, no response from GitHub. Secondary escalations have not proven fruitful. The original ticket has an updated time more recently, but nothing visible to me, indicating there's probably some internal discourse, but still no outward comms. Don't trust GitHub for your projects

bro, stop the ceremonyclient service and use release branch instead `git switch release` then run `./release_autorun.sh` in the node folder. cheers

We are the alternative thesis to consumer crypto. We don't believe in a world where you have to understand a highly complex global computer, how it manages state, or the myriad footguns that can wreck you if you don't. We believe that crypto can be simple and intuitive, leaving complexity to implementation details.

I think ultimately it will be like both the video game industry collapse and hobby computer industry collapse: people will flee to a place of trust and safety. I’m building Quilibrium to be that destination. This is a long term game, one that has an expectation of near industry extinction in the horizon.
