Sincere question: if you had to explain it to someone with absolutely no clue, why should they try warpcast over bluesky/mastodon/threads?

It’s much easier for third party apps to build interoperable features on Farcaster, and it will get even easier to build them as time goes on, so you’re much more likely to find your specific community or desired features. Farcaster is an open ecosystem, the others give you dictatorship, oligarchy, or feudalism.

Thanks for responding. Can you more about the open ecosystem vs dictator/oligarch/feudal models?

Threads, like Twitter fall into the dictator / oligarch category since they are privately controlled, give minimal insight into their data structure, and gatekeep app access. ...

Bluesky & Mastodon are not much better - although they use an open data standard, are open to various interfaces, and other providers can host data, in reality these features just create silos or are never used. This is like feudalism - you can move to a new overlord, but it's expensive and most abuse their power. ...

Farcaster and Lens operate on a totally different framework. They use either full blockchains or other distributed systems that are forced to actively coordinate live data sharing. This means that not only does all data share a common standard, but the data and processes effectively exist across a worldwide computer...

...so power is stripped away from any single server host, & all hosts need to agree to consensus decisions of the network or risk being kicked off of it. This gives much more power to apps & end users because humanity no longer simply communicates about what their local computer is doing, we become one large computer.

Thanks for the detailed follow up 👍🏻I definitely agree about the silo effect of fediverse services. The reason I ask is because I see the potential in farcaster but I am not sure I see it attracting users beyond the current eth-loving demographics. Having a good “elevator pitch” seems valuable
