IMO, vibes coding is incredible at the first part, and AI can definitely help with the last part, but the middle still requires a lot of skill

100% agreed. AI is good at scripting, mid at coding, terrible at engineering, can't do deployment or ops.

So far, AI can def code simple stuff, but ask it to navigate an existing api and get the data you need, then convert it to the format the front end needs - not there yet.
