not really, i mean growing up i heard rumors about Chinese restaurants using cats instead of chicken, but always seemed like urban legend stuff.

That’s what I grew up w too. Those urban legends were kinda like the memes before memes. They viral and had a bigger impact on my Asian friends than I knew.
