what is one thing your parents did when raising you that you will not do when raising your own?

My parents only praised me for academics and would say anything else I liked was a waste of time. I hope to nurture whatever interests my kids have.

Lol well my dad told me recently he thinks he might be a sociopathic narcissist and hearing that, my kid told me "hey dad, please never say that to me." So that's one 💀 Other things my parents did when raising me I'm not going to do: - no supervision, ever - booze freely available way too young - used my inheritance from my grandma to pay his own secret credit bills - never talk about anything important I could go on. In summary my goal is be the opposite of my parents in almost every way.

For me it's telling the truth My mum always hid truths from us while growing up maybe because she didn't want us to feel hurt or to know about certain stuff for our own good but i probably wouldn't or at least I'll try not to do that to my kids because those little things gurt me as a child
