TIL chewing gum is a byproduct of petroleum processing and that Goodyear Tire & Rubber Company was historically a major supplier of synthetic gum base materials for the Wrigley Company. (The Mars episode of Acquired has all kinds of interesting tidbits like this)

I had no idea! I also heard something once that chewing gum literally makes you hungrier, because it primes your system for food with the mastication! going to be bookmarking this for my unschooling adventures in curiosity! 👀🫶
