I’ve lived in LA for the last 7 years. My lease is up soon and I’m considering trying somewhere new. I value natural beauty, access to international flights, and a strong sense of local identity. Shill me on where you think I should move (and why!) — anywhere is fair game.

(I moved to Redmond from LA area in 2021.) In the spring and summer it’s beautiful. The summers are warm and dry. The days are noticeably longer than SoCal, with the sun setting in the 9 o’clock hour on the longest days. In the fall you get to see the trees actually change color 🍁 and the weather cools off.

The winters are chilly and wet, but not crazy like northeast. You get to experience some snow but not where it’s an annoying amount. The days are noticeably shorter than SoCal, getting dark at 4pm at the height. You will come to appreciate the water and the green forests everywhere. Clean air (15-30 AQIs).

I’m in the Kirkland/Redmond area. Close to Redmond/MSFT (15 min), Seattle tech (30-45), Bellevue (15 min), and … nature. Lake Washington is massive and 10 minutes from my house. Woodinville wine country is 10 minutes away.

SeaTac airport is great (better than LAX by a mile, not quite as good as SFO but still good). About 45 min drive from Kirkland area but closer if you live in Seattle.
