SuperRare is shutting down their Discord server. While I'm happy the total number of Discord servers is decreasing (the ideal number is 0), it still seems like an odd thing to do. Does anyone have any thoughts on what's going on here?

After much thought, we've made the difficult decision to close our Discord server. While it's been an incredible space, it no longer aligns with our evolving mission. We truly appreciate everyone who's been part of this community. 💙

we stopped supporting ours last year @brightmoments 

it's a lot of work to maintain a good server and the quality of discourse for most servers has fallen off a cliff

it mostly exists as a way to troll people and post phishing links, and we encouraged our community to connect here and receive updates via email

shrinking the engagement surface is smart

Discord is really good as a support channel. It’s really exhausting as a community building channel, especially in crypto. Discord for community feels a lot like spending a ton of money on a conference only to realize you didn’t get any return.
