Being a parent changed how I make decisions. Today, I had a race I'd been looking forward to for a long time. Yesterday evening, I had a high fever. My son is also sick. Before becoming a dad, I would have run no matter what (just rest afterwards). Nowadays, my son needs me. I have to take care of myself so I can take care of him. But I also have to stay true to myself.

Difficult balance. My running basically stopped when I had kids and I've found it really hard to get back into. There is a before and after and you just have to adjust to the new normal. Good time by the way. My distance was always 10k so that seems fast to me,!

10k is so incredibly long for me. Even 5k is a lot of work! I dropped running after HS and picked it up and have ruthlessly continued it. I'm inclined towards complete self-sacrifice, and do it to maintain some semblance of balance.

It's very important to continue as much as possible then. The good thing about short distance is that you can more easily fit it around other things. When i used to go out it would be at least an hour and a half of walking to the park, warming up and down and then actual running. I love 10k as a distance because it gives me more time to think, though. Used to work through a lot of story planning that way. πŸ˜…
