I've been alternating between unmotivated and completely impassive since finishing my latest screenplay. This happens to me a lot. I finish a big project, I take some downtime, I have nothing to write, I get apathetic. 

This morning I felt a bit guilty that I not only haven't been writing but that I also don't really feel like writing, and that I actually feel like I'd prefer not to be writing, like I've got nothing to say anyway so what's the point, and I also feel a little bit rusty like there's this disconnection between the thoughts in my head and how to express them well, so I started going through old work. 

I've had a tab open on my laptop for a while now of a talent agency and I've been meaning to send them an application asking for representation but I just haven't because I'm at that point where I've done this a hundred times already now and I'm kind of like, 'what's the point?' No response on this yet. Nothing. Not even an acknowledgement of receipt of inquiry. Nothing in spam. This is why i hate this industry. I see so much crap on tv, so many poor films repeatedly churned out, and i can't even get someone to respond to an email. 

Different skill sets maybe. Lots of competition? Absolutely. Under qualified? I don't think so.

Demoralising? Yep.

Give up?  No. We never give up. We just evolve.

Haha this is a very good point. I'm going to write a metafiction version of this and send it to them. And then hound them repeatedly until they take me on.

In the movies, the character playing you would spam and hound the agency until they gave you a shot.

I think it has conditioned us to expect that from people who want something, tragic though it is.
