I agree, but I’ve seen a lot of great apps get launched with not even rudimentary efforts going into name, branding, logos, marketing, socials etc. Tech alone is not enough and you probably only get one chance as well.

Yeah I’m not so sure the marketing is as easy to bootstrap as he implies, but it’s true that a lot of technical founders don’t really think about marketing or gtm at all. I get it, they are often excited to just ship, but if you can’t or won’t do it yourself at least hire someone. Use token allo if you have to. Many failed projects could have maybe lasted if they had better names, branding, socials, marketing. It’s part of the game.

He is probably underestimating how difficult is to build a real product… Do you think an engineer could do marketing with ChatGPT alone?
