i remember when people were posting their uber scores in here some time back and i was shocked at how low the majority were but then i see how 'founder' types lose their shit when something as small as channel changes happen and i'm like ahhh yes, of course.

can’t remember exactly but there were some low low scores. probably some people had them for a long time, since wild college days so that plays a part. anecdotally, some of the most cringe dining experiences I’ve had were with wealthy coastal folks who just had no patience or grace. a lot of folks in the finance/founder space skipped any kind of service industry experience between college and a career and have a blind spot when it comes being polite. many exceptions of course.

ratings are fascinatingly accurate. any driver ive had under 4.80 has had some kind of significant issue. under 4.70 literally felt semi-dangerous the few times I tried, I wont even do it anymore. I wouldnt be surprised if it worked the same for riders. my score went from 4.90 to 4.80 over the last years, and the only thing that changed is I started selecting the option "Quiet" when it asked me what I "preferred conversation" option before booking. I could see that it might rub some drivers the wrong way, but I really do appreciate being able to be in my own space while traveling.
