🚨 PSA: Be careful using "decentralized" to pitch Farcaster We were recently pitching the biz dev team of a multi-billion dollar business about why they should start a channel on Warpcast. Dropping in the word "decentralized" cost me 2min out of the 5min we spent on the subject. Them: "Well see, that's one of our concerns here, we need to have centralized control to remain compliant and create the right brand impression in our community..." Of course, that's not what we meant, but the opportunity for misunderstanding is ripe. And anyways, decentralization has very little to do with the *direct* value proposition I was making: The real value for them is a replacement to Discord for community building and management. Ie, creating a killer social space where their community members can accrue status, and where the business can allow in-feed transactions and a growing list of programmable optimizations. (The ability to build their own client and control their graph is secondary, and only icing on the cake.)

+ ownership of social graph. "So, you're investing all this money and resources into something you don't own and have no control over it? Is compliance ok with this?"

Yeah you don’t even want to get into this debate in the first place is my point. Lean on the other value props and teach them this decentralized piece later. (Of course, depending on your audience)
