🚨 PSA: Be careful using "decentralized" to pitch Farcaster We were recently pitching the biz dev team of a multi-billion dollar business about why they should start a channel on Warpcast. Dropping in the word "decentralized" cost me 2min out of the 5min we spent on the subject. Them: "Well see, that's one of our concerns here, we need to have centralized control to remain compliant and create the right brand impression in our community..." Of course, that's not what we meant, but the opportunity for misunderstanding is ripe. And anyways, decentralization has very little to do with the *direct* value proposition I was making: The real value for them is a replacement to Discord for community building and management. Ie, creating a killer social space where their community members can accrue status, and where the business can allow in-feed transactions and a growing list of programmable optimizations. (The ability to build their own client and control their graph is secondary, and only icing on the cake.)

There is probable a huge opportunity for a white-label farcaster client. Like work with @recaster-fc and build a custom client for brand X: - Branded design, colors, logos - Hard coded link to the company channels, websites, terms and conditions, etc. - Subsidized user onboarding - In-app notifications controlled by the company - ....

+ ownership of social graph. "So, you're investing all this money and resources into something you don't own and have no control over it? Is compliance ok with this?"

The trick for me in those type of presentations is using terms that illustrate what is the direct value for user interaction and conversion through the touchpoints that are possible due to decentralisation. Like in your last part.
