this is true. The first step to acquiring good taste is ingesting massive amounts of information about whatever field you’re looking to master. For a musician this is listening to tons of records, for a painter it’s looking at tons of art. A dilettante or poseur usually has a limited set of information to draw from

Yes. And volume is necessary but maybe not sufficient imo. It also helps to: pay attention; ask “why?”; try to do recreate it yourself.

Yeah volume is important but there are x factors involved too. intelligence, openness, pernicious perhaps but everyone can control for exposure.
