Good one! I think Glossier would be a good web2 example there. they had an incredible feedback loop between their community and business for a while

True. But this crypto specific thing — “the shiller” — is very remarkable to me. We accept it as commonplace but it is striking that a whole class of person has come into existence — all around promoting the interest of a community (chain, token, nft) as a way of promoting their individual interest.

Ah I get what you're saying. Yes, you are right. Building hype has proven quite valuable in crypto. Is there an example you can think of where hype building is both (1) institutional knowledge within an org and (2) it's worked in a durable way?
