Meta’s Policy Chief went on Fox this morning (with a video from Zuck) to announce it’s new policies: leaning into free speech, replacing fact-checkers with community notes, and removing the shadowban on civic topics. changes will affect Facebook, Instagram + Threads. https://fb.watch/wYSkr0eYg6/?mibextid=v7YzmG

Elon really does steal the “free speech disruptor” spotlight. imagine the narrative if Elon wasn’t in the picture 😆

do you think Zuck would be doing this if not for Musk doing it first?

It's hard to say for sure, but I don't have much evidence of Zuck *leading* changes before they have already been proven safe. (ie, like Brian Armstrong did with merit hiring and Elon with free speech committment). Zuck was also jumping on the woke train when it was proving to be popular. Seems like his strategy is to ride the tides, which is fine.

zuck seems more like a strategist who adapts to trends rather than leads them. riding the tides works for staying relevant, but it’s a different energy compared to taking bold, unproven stances like brian or elon.
