Im guessing there’s also genetics-induced, disease-induced, and age-induced versions of gingivitis (ie, regardless of flossing habits). But I’m no dentist. 

Exercise is definitely not a panacea but most impactful action I can think of. 

My more controversial answer is “avoiding toxins of everyday products”
