Everything genuinely feels so meaningless when you know the future is basically widespread desperation, poverty, and violence worldwide 😂 Woohoo I learned another worthless skill I ran another pointless mile I read another book I could have just asked an LLM about

i too am familiar with the despair cycle. don't forget that people forever have predicted downfall after downfall. many of them were right. but if you look at where we are versus then life has improved dramatically for so many. all we can do is persevere, be kind to one another, and inspire awe and wonder in others.

It’s not despair. It just is. But the utilitarian argument of “well yes [x] innovation caused untold suffering but it was worth it because life is so much better today” holds little water for me. It’s easy to justify tragedy in hindsight because you weren’t the one affected by it. A person is not a means to someone else’s utopia
