On the Germany Nuclear thing, I have to say I‘m surprised how polarizing it is. 
Honestly, I don‘t care pro/contra, Nuclear is probably fine. Still think there are nuances to the German way.
But it seems a lot of people here are Nuclear-pilled without much reflection. It’s a culture war topic.

No, this discounts a new important points

- Nuclear and renewables are incompatible
- U can‘t just transition Germany in the short term to 100% Nuclear given costs and existing infra
- Russian gas was an intentional German policy to apeace Russia and it failed (but arguing beyond that is hindsight-bias)

IDK it seems a pretty objective topic to me 🤔

Either you focus on improving nuclear waste treatment

Or you go back to coal and fossil fuels 🙃

Plus they had to heavily relay on Russian gas during a major global conflict with them 

How more objective can you get than this? 😅

From my point of view the main issue is that Germany shut down the nuclear reactors for ideological reasons without sufficiently focusing on the building of (renewable) energy resources.

🤝 And I also think there needs to be an acknowledgement of the situation on the ground. One can argue for snapping into existence a multi-trillion dollar effort to re-build Germany's 20-year-phased-out Nuclear facilities, but this ignores an entire country's trajectory and the made bets on renewables

IMHO there’s some resentment of environmentalists that dislike nuclear tied up in the feels.
Personally, I think nuclear is reasonable in some places, and much better than fossil fuels, but the bigger opportunity is decentralized production and storage.

Yes , seems everything is polarizing these days. Most people can't fathom the position of the other side because they cannot imagine having a diffrent set of priorities.
