.@antonio, it took me half an hour of my European sun-sitting and cappuccino-enjoying time to create this info graphic, so I expect an apology for spreading misinformation https://i.imgur.com/4hoGyyw.png

Yeah, my graphic hides the fact that the European population pyramid is top heavy (that was intentional). But anyways, these data suggest that our active labor force is significantly bigger than that of the US. But sure Dan, you can zeihan-forecast that there'll be a demographic collapse soon, please go ahead 😆

Since Spotify, what’s the most interesting thing that’s come out of Europe. Note: plenty of interesting things from Europeans living / working in the US Europeans are great; EU is sclerotic cf. GPT

Also maybe this is silly, but in European cities we now have high quality food delivery to your doorstep with e-bikes within 15-20 minutes (Flink, Gorillaz). This has been a game changer for many. I think the US has it with Doordash too. But they fuckup the order, drive cars and it takes way longer.

This is @antonio’s whole point which I agree with: average quality of life in Europe is better! But the future of civilization is not being built there.

don’t you think maybe it’s a perception issue that they’re stale b/c they’re doing it slower through alternate models? eg infra is built as public-private partnerships. boring to profit maxi economy but more sustainable and b/c someone does it first without considerations should we label them futuristic?🤔

I agree with this argument. E.g. how do you measure the "innovation impact" of Siemens changing a cog in a train and making train travel half as expensive? Obviously everyone can see Apple shipping a new iPhone and they're all applauding.
