Doesn’t the fact that a smart contract wallet is transferable break the idea of a soul bound token?

SBTs are non-transferable, but if a contract wallet owns an SBT the wallet can be transferred to someone else.

IMO the most practical framing I could come up with is that SBTs are transferable but through an intermediary that e.g. unlocks the token for a limited time. E.g. your university issuing your certificate to a new address. At least that's the idea behind ERC5192

You can do it with SBTs too. E.g. a professor could have an SBT attached to his address marking them with authority. Then the professor signs an EIP712 and since we know that the ecrecovered address is a professor, we consider it credible.

A university diploma is something that’s better done with a verifiable credential rather than some on-chain entity.

In the VC model you can include sensitive info you don’t want to put on-chain, and then do a selective disclosure when you need to work with it on-chain.
