I'm tired of fake niceness. Why can't we just be direct and honest? Instead of saying "this is super cool", say "not interested. thank you"

Maybe I‘m completely off here, but I think there is no such thing as fake niceness, it‘s just regular respect for the other person. Besides, much fake niceness is just a precaution to optimize for greater opportunity. I can appreciate that pursuit too

I’d disagree. You can be polite without pretending to be someone’s friend? It really is a waste of time imo. I don’t want to spent time and mental energy on people who don’t actually genuinely want to make an effort to be friends and are just saying random nice things to fill the silence.
