I don’t think he’s delusional or just having fun, but trying to build the best product. His approach is just one of many reasonable paths.

My take is that he’s sincere, but that he can’t himself relate to the type of user that would choose Apple over Meta (user “trusts” Apple, makes choices on intuitions about safety not specs, etc) so he ends up making the case in a way that most customers he is missing out on won’t respond to.
