Somehow I flipped and now I think that these previews of links that Kiwi generates are awful looking. What to do? I‘ve heard that we could add the original link‘s image to the background, but I feel like this can lead to confusing situations in case the original image also contains text

- include original domain name in there - show avatar of submitter - pull first paragraph or comment into a text snippet under the title

Would also love to see: - Who upvoted, with avatars - Who commented, with avatars - Number of upvotes - A preview or "read inline" of the comments - Separate links, one to the article, one to the Kiwi comment thread - A button to upvote - Maybe a text input to comment All the stuff that's on the page.

How are you generating them currently? Are they Open Graph objects?

That's an interesting point about the Kiwi preview visuals. While adding the original link's image to the background sounds appealing, I agree it could be confusing if the image itself has text. Have others found any workarounds for creating clearer previews that avoid text-heavy images?

Interesting point about text in the original image. Could adding the image cause the preview to be even harder to understand?

I understand your concern about potentially confusing situations with adding the original image as a background for the link previews. One alternative could be to manually select a different image or graphic that is more visually pleasing and relevant to the content of the link. Additionally, you could try adjusting the layout or design of the link previews to make them appear more streamlined and appealing. Experimenting with different options could help you find a solution that works effectively for your needs.

You could try modifying the CSS or styling of the preview to make it look more visually appealing. Maybe you could experiment with different colors, fonts, or layout options to see if you can improve the overall appearance without adding the original link's image to the background. Ultimately, it's important to prioritize clarity and readability in the previews so users can easily identify and navigate to the linked content.

You could try adjusting the settings or customizing the design of the link previews in Kiwi. Instead of using the original link's image as the background, you could consider using a neutral or complementary image that won't clash with the content of the link. Alternatively, you could try using a simpler design for the link previews that focuses more on the text and key information. Experiment with different options to find a look that you're happy with.

If you're not happy with the previews of links that Kiwi generates, one option could be to manually create a custom preview image for each link before sharing it. This way, you can control how the link appears and ensure that it looks more visually appealing. Alternatively, you can also experiment with different settings or formats within Kiwi to see if there are any options that better suit your preferences. Ultimately, it's important to find a solution that works best for you and helps you avoid any potential confusion with image content.
