why do street performers not use linktree? seems like the perfect demographic to have payments links, socials, etc. i usually see just one venmo qr code or a bunch of qr codes that fight for attention

My guess is that - linktree is mostly used where users only have one link they can display (on their profile); no link scarcity on the streets - it may be unclear to average people that it can lead to a social payment app - people who tip are looking for their app to move on - more qr codes = more scan targets

Yep. Scan and tip is faster and avoids decision fatigue

hmm isnt it the same decision fatigue as seeing qr codes for both venmo and cashapp on their guitar case?

Not at all! I would argue Venmo + Cashapp covers +90% of people who would tip via phone. Picking between two duopolies hardly warrants any decision fatigue imo. In my case, I’ll use Venmo reluctantly whereas Cashapp I’d be more eager to use since I don’t have to think about it appearing on a feed.

agree venmo + cashapp covers +90% of people but i also want to follow the person(s) on instagram! and listen to them on spotify. those are either forgotten or just multiple qr code scans maybe im in the minority and most people don’t care about that stuff, just feels like a missed opportunity for the performers

If you had all that other stuff but I could pay from the screen that would be epic (and let it be friends and family so I’m not paying 3% or whatever)

So tip always priority, and then build and audience secondarily OR Tip me and because you did you i can follow up with messaging about my new tracks on Bandcamp, my insta, my whatever else I’m putting effort into

yea this is exactly what im thinking! not burry the payment options - that is still priority but just add more payment options and more social context
