Wild how big of a difference remastered records make for heavier music! I never got into Converge's earlier work until I listened to the You Fail Me one. More and more convinced the only way you ever get blockchain transaction privacy is at the L1 level: anything which has a targetable entity or is opt-in is unlikely to ever be viable.

Every node on the network validates every transaction it sees, and a non staking node will ignore a block that does not follow its protocol rules even if validators say it is correct. This is why it’s important to have full nodes: they are a check on validators. We should have a better word for “validator” 😅!

Are there are governance/legal systems who systematically keep track of the costs/externalities of their rulesets and default to removing/changing rules if they are proven to be a net negative? Not “we realized that this is bad and campaign to change it”, but built in proactively.
